Jurassic World (2015)

The dinosaur theme park is now a real thing, with millions of visitors every year. Every time a new exhibit opens, visitor numbers peak. So of course Corporate want to go bigger – even if that means nature’s dinosaurs aren’t ‘wow’ enough…

I confess, I wasn’t too enthused about going to see this movie – blame the lackluster sequels to an original whose ‘wow’ is two decades old, now. Can a new sequel do any better?

I’m pleased to report that yes, yes it can! Sure, there are plot holes and stupid decisions a-plenty, but through the whole 2-hour running time I was just swept up in the whole spectacle of it.

Chris Pratt is fast becoming an action movie star, and his character’s easy charm works wonders on both the audience and velociraptors! Bryce Dallas Howard gets a better role than the trailers suggested, thank goodness, although the kids are very slightly annoying at times. The stars remain the dinosaurs, though – natural, or genetically modified!

Worth seeing on the big screen; just sit back and enjoy – leave the thinking ’til (much) later!

Released: 12th June 2015

My rating: 7/10
